Description

The Browning B2000 is a gas-operated, semi-automatic shotgun produced from 1973 to 1980 in Belgium by FN and imported by Browning. It features a distinctive "humpback" receiver similar to the A5, a unique internal gas system located in the magazine tube for reliability and a slim forearm, a side-loading port, and a speed-loading feature. While high-quality, it was overshadowed by the Remington 1100 due to its lack of interchangeable choke tubes, requiring separate barrels for different chokes and loads.
Key Features
Gas-Operated System
: Unlike the A5's long-recoil system, the B2000 uses a gas system located at the end of the magazine tube for a compact, reliable, and clean operation.
Speed Loading
: The shotgun has a "speed load" feature where a shell placed in the side loading port will feed into the chamber when the bolt is released.
Humpback Receiver
: The receiver has a distinctive "humpback" design, reminiscent of the Browning Auto-5.
Side Loading
: The B2000 loads shells from the side of the receiver.
Fixed Chokes
: Unlike many later shotguns, the B2000 did not use interchangeable choke tubes; each barrel had a fixed choke (like full, modified, skeet, etc.).
